Katey & Rene Gonzalez

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Katey has been involved with Back2Back since its inception. She served in Monterrey on mission trips many times during her high school and college years. After graduating from Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, she attended Elon University in North Carolina until she graduated in May of 2007 with an art degree specializing in graphic design.  After graduation, she applied for a one-year STINT position with Back2Back and joined the staff in September 2007.  Katey spent her first year getting to know the ministry sites, working with visiting groups and putting her graphic design education to good use. Two months after arriving in Monterrey, Katey met René, whom she married in October 2008!

Born and raised in Monterrey, René has also been involved with Back2Back since the very beginning. He graduated from Universidad Tec Milenio of Monterrey with a major in International Business. He joined the Back2Back staff on a part-time basis in January of 2008 as the youth pastor for the Teen Hope Program.  René is also the worship leader and youth pastor at Nuevo Pacto Church serving with his dad who is the church pastor. In his spare time he writes and plays music as well as giving music lessons.

Katey has now joined the staff full-time, still working with groups, but also spending more time on graphic design and special projects for the ministry.  Both Katey and René have a passion for young people, especially those that are less fortunate and need some extra love and guidance.  Katey and René consider themselves extremely blessed to be able to serve alongside the Back2Back staff in Monterrey.
